MSA Chaplaincy Course Application

The Correctional Chaplaincy Course consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction and is held on two separate Friday/Saturday weekends.  Classes are scheduled regionally throughout the State of Michigan and twice in the Flint area (March and September)

Course Objectives

• Examine the role of a correctional chaplain and chaplaincy programs
• Survey of the criminal justice system
• Analyze the rise in female crime and the female offender
• Discuss security related procedures within a county jail
• Establishing effective guidelines in counseling the incarcerated
• Developing counseling skills through practical case studies
• Updated information and chaplaincy strategies

The cost of the course is $75.00 ($135.00 for couples) which includes a $25.00 pre-registration deposit. Deposit or full amount required before attending the class. Materials provided include a Course Syllabus and "The Christian Counselors Manual" by Jay Adams. Upon successful completion of the course an ID card will be issued and a certificate of completion awarded.  To pre-register complete a registration form indicating location you will be taking the course, enclose $25 or full amount and give to your local chaplain or mail it to the FMM 3940 Fruit Ridge N.W., Grand Rapids, MI 49544. Class location and dates can change so make sure you call ahead for confirmation of class.
